Choral Performance at Cedar Crest to Celebrate America's 250th Anniversary
Allentown, PA (04/16/2026) — Cedar Crest College's Department of Performing Arts proudly presents From Sea to Shining Sea, a musical tribute performed by the Cedar Crest Voices of Inclusion Choral Ensemble (VOICE) to commemorate America's 250 years of independence.
Led by VOICE Choir Director Cristina Makowicz, the program will feature choral pieces and solos exploring the diverse voices of America's past and present.
Song selections include a unique variety like "America the Dream" by Rollo Dillworth, "Burn" from Hamilton, "Blackbird" by the Beatles, and more.
"I am especially excited about 'The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere' by living classical composer Gwyneth Walker," says Cristina.
Cristina, a Lehigh Valley-based pianist, organist, music director, and piano instructor at Cedar Crest College, is in her fourth year with VOICE, a college and community choir open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the wider community.
While planning the concert to celebrate the country's momentous anniversary, Cristina knew she wanted to instill a sense of hope and aspiration for the future for the audience.
"I hope the concert will be an oasis of beauty," says Cristina.
From Sea to Shining Sea will be performed Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m. at the Alumnae Hall Chapel, Cedar Crest College, 100 College Drive, Allentown, and will have a run time of around one hour.
The concert is free to attend, however registration is required, as seating in the chapel is limited. Tickets may be reserved here.
