Presented Workshop at LGBTQ+ Student leadership conference 2017

Making the Case for Singular They: First, increase the awareness of the use and need of a singular gender neutral pronoun. Second, bring knowledge to the conversation surrounding the debate. Third, give solutions and methods of engaging in this dialogue, as well as examples to use in discussing the need for a singular gender neutral pronoun.

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing

Nursing students are eligible for membership in the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing if, at the end of the junior year when they have completed 50% of the nursing curriculum, they have a grade point average of 3.0 or better, are in the upper 35% of their nursing class and have demonstrated academic integrity and professional leadership potential.

Preterite's Annual Writing Contest Winners Announced

Preterite is the name of Cedar Crest College's literary club, open to students of all majors. Onyx is Preterite's annual publication for winners of its creative writing contesPreterite Each year, Preterite recognizes exceptional student work in fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry with its creative writing contest. All Cedar Crest students-undergraduate, SAGE, or graduate-are invited to submit their best writing. Submissions are accepted throughout the fall and early spring semesters. Preterite members review and edit contest entries during the submission process (in which works are reviewed without student names being identified). Come spring, prizes are given in each category (fiction, nonfiction, and poetry) at the Writing Awards Ceremony, and the club publishes winning submissions in Onyx.

Sigma Tau Delta Inducts New Members

Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society, was established in 1924 to confer distinction upon students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies. An undergraduate candidate for membership shall have a minimum of two college courses in English language and literature beyond the usual requirements in freshman English. The candidate shall have the minimum of a B or equivalent average in English and in general scholarship (a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale), shall rank at least in the top thirty-five percent of his/her class, and shall have completed at least three semesters or five quarters of college course work. A graduate candidate for graduate membership who did not hold undergraduate membership shall be enrolled in a graduate program in English or one of its specializations, have completed 6 semester hours of graduate work or the equivalent, and have a minimum of a B+ or equivalent average in his/her graduate studies (a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale).

Poster Presentation at Eastern Nursing Research Society (ENRS) Sessions

Laura McCready, RN presented a poster at Eastern Nursing Research Society (ENRS) 29th Annual Scientific Sessions on April 5, 2017 in Philadelphia, PA. Her poster entitled Doll Therapy: An Approach to Calm and Enhance the Well-being of Individuals with Agitated Dementia, received rave reviews during the BS student poster session. Laura is very passionate about this topic and it fit in perfectly with the theme of the conference Leading the Way: Building Strength and Unity in the Diversity of Nursi

Poster Presentation at National Student Nurses Association Convention

Eight Cedar Crest College nursing students recently presented three posters at the National Student Nurses Association Convention in Dallas, TX. The theme of the annual conference was Think Big: Nursing on a Global Scale. Posters included: (1) Prioritization of Care for a Client with Cystitis by Stephanie Kershner, Monique Aquila, Danielle Beecher & Elizabeth Bringhurst; (2) Global Health Problem: Sanitation & Waste Management by Nicole Grimaldi & Natasha Nembhard; and (3) Breast Feeding & Bottle Feeding by Shalyn

Gamma Sigma Epsilon Inducts New Members

Gamma Sigma Epsilon is a national honor society founded in 1919 in order to promote academic excellence and undergraduate research scholarship in chemistry. The society is governed by a National Executive Council of elected officers. Active members of the chapter shall be composed of students who have completed a minimum of 18 credit-hours in chemistry with a minimum grade point average of 3.2 in all chemistry courses and at least a 3.0 overall grade point average.

Cedar Crest College congratulates all new members inducted into the Theta Rho Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. The purposes of the nursing honor society are to recognize superior achievement and the development of leadership qualities, to foster high professional standards, to encourage creative work and to strengthen commitment to the ideas and purposes of the nursing profession. Nursing students are eligible for membership if, at the end of the junior year they have a grade point average of 3.0 or better, are in the upper 35% of their nursing class.

Amnesty International: Unity & Inclusion Within the Local Community. After presenting AICCC's involvement throughout the community. Our chapter will also provide more information on how individuals can participate in not only Amnesty International events, but also become an active human rights advocate within their perspective community.

At the 2017 LVAIC Women's and Gender Studies conference on March 25, 2017, Ravneet co-presented a connected creative analyses of Charlotte Perkins Gilman's "The Yellow-Paper" in a session titled "The Yellow Wallpaper: Hysteria through Fiction and Poetry."

On March 25, 2017, I presented a paper at the 2017 LVAIC Women's and Gender Studies conference titled "Rape Culture of the Lock," which explored the links between rape culture and Alexander Pope's 18th century poem "The Rape of the Lock."

Softball Sweeps CSAC Weekly Awards

The Colonial State Athletic Conference released its weekly awards with two Cedar Crest softball players grabbing the two top awards. Junior catcher Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) earned the Hitter of the Week honor while sophomore pitcher Laura Rau (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) garnered the Pitcher of the Week award. After posting a 7-2 spring break record, the best record in the conference for the week, as well as in recent school history for a spring training week. Schnaubelt had a great week at the plate, in her first game she went 3-for-4 with three doubles. Later in the week she was perfect, going 4-for-4 against Lehman and 2-for-2 against Chatham, hitting doubles in both games. She had a .724 slugging percentage and .531 on base percentage after nine games. Rau went 3-0 on the week with two shutouts. In her first shutout against Penn State Harrisburg she had one hit and three strikeouts while holding Regis to three hits and having two more strikeouts. Delta Delta Epsilon Forensic Science Honor Society Induction

Delta Delta Epsilon is the only international honor society exclusively for forensic science. Delta Delta Epsilon, meaning "justice through science", is dedicated to recognizing and encouraging excellence in scholarship in forensic science, with the mission to function as an honor and professional society for forensic science students. Student membership requires a current minimum overall grade point average of 3.3 for undergraduate students and 3.5 for graduate students.

Cedar Crest College Students Present at the 68th Annual American Academy of Forensic Sciences Meeting

The 68th Annual American Academy of Forensic Sciences meeting was held from February 22-27, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nine students in the Master of Science in Forensic Science program at Cedar Crest College presented their research at the annual meeting, along with one forensic science undergraduate student.

Cedar Crest announces participants in the International Ambassador Program for 2016

The Cedar Crest International Ambassador Program is a volunteer peer advising opportunity for students who are currently abroad or have recently returned from an international education experience. This can include students participating in a faculty-led study tour, a summer, semester-long, or year-long study abroad, an exchange program, or International Service-learning or internship program. After the experience Cedar Crest International Ambassadors are able to share with prospective student travelers their many day-to-day experiences about getting acclimated to their new environment, in-country housing & food, courses, professors, and classroom expectations.

Psi Chi Induction

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS). Members have an overall GPA that is in the top 35% of their class based on rankings and a GPA in psychology that is at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Scholar-Athlete

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization honors student-athletes that hold the highest GPA on their respected teams as well as LVSCB Team. Six schools in the Lehigh Valley Area are included. Kayleigh Keggan, a starting forward for the Falcons, has been a three time captain for the program and exemplifies leadership as the only senior. Majoring in Communications and has contributed 77 points, 55 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and one block this season
